Master Bedroom Oasis

Want to get away from the chaos without leaving the house? A room built for you to de-stress and lounge in is valuable for everyone to have, but do you have that room? Being a mother, we spend the majority of our time with our children while still being a working parent. So it’s not a surprise that it can be tough to have some alone time in the house. Some may think it would be too expensive or time-consuming, but it doesn’t have to be either! Here are some ways you can make your master bedroom an oasis without breaking the bank or renovating your room!

An easy way to make your bedroom look large is to add an accent wall. When you use a darker accent color for one wall, it will make the room size seemed increased. Where the bed sits, I like to make an accent, whether that be a dramatic wallpaper, shiplap, wainscoting, or as simple as a moody paint color. It’s the perfect way to freshen up the bedroom without spending a ton.

Want a quick change? Switch up your bedding, make the bed look cozy with fluffy layers! I layer with sheets, soft quilt, duvet cover and down comforter, and a coverlet or throw at the foot of the bed. I usually will roll the duvet cover over a few times to give it a more fluffy look. Makes you want to climb right in. Finish it off with 2-3 Euro pillows, accent pillows, and a lumbar pillow to bring the whole look together.

If you want to see a sizable difference within your room, create a space where you can enjoy a snack or drink while the little ones down for a nap. Whether it be in the corner or foot of the bed, I like to add a seating area with a cocktail ottoman in the room. If you don’t have space for that, try to incorporate a bench at the foot of the bed for added interest! To give that cozy master bedroom oasis feeling, add a large area rug under your seating area and bed. It’s a nice finishing touch that helps pull together the decor all around the room.

When it comes to picking out the right bedding for a room, create a mix of materials and patterns. One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to decor is a bed set. I like it to look like it has been designed over time, rather than walking into the store and purchasing the model room. Make the room feel personalized for your taste! By using neutral colored bedding, add a textured or metal headboard to mix it up and create a nice contrast. If you get a wood headboard, try a different colored wood nightstand. If you have an upholstered headboard, you could choose wood nightstands to contrast with a different finish dresser.
